Bear is a 2 year old Belgian Malinois
Bear was purchased and Trained at the Brodie K9 Training Center in Liberty Tennessee
In July of 2006 K9 Deputy Randy Klein has been promoted from Patrol Deputy to K9 Handler
Bear is a Dual Purpose K9 trained in Narcotics Detection, Officer Protection and Criminal Apprehension

The sheriffs department K9 unit was started in 1999 by Deputy Mark Kautman
In 2002 Deputy Johnson was assigned to the position of K9 Handler
The K9 was purchased from Brodie K9 Training Center in Liberty Tennessee
The K9 is a 9 year old Belgian Malinois named Senna
Senna is trained in the detection of illegal narcotics
Senna is also trained in Criminal Apprehension, Article Searches and Tracking
Senna is not only used by the sheriffs office but also assists other agencies when needed
K9 Deputy Johnson and Senna also conducted public, school and organization demonstrations when requested
The sheriffs department is currently in the process of purchasing new K9
Senna will retire at the end of 2006 with almost 8 years of service
Anticipated arrival date of the new K9 is mid July
The sheriffs department is also accepting donations for purchase of the new K9
To date the sheriffs department has raised over $4000
The total cost of the new K9 unit is $8500 not including additional patrol equipment
Donations may be sent to the sheriffs department in care of the K9 unit
