Chad graduated from Starmont High School in 2000.  He then attended Hawkeye Community College for two years and graduated with honors in 2002 with an Associates and Applied Science Degree in Police Science. In June 2001, Chad was hired as a Reserve Officer for the Guttenberg Police Department.  In July 2001, he was hired as A Reserve Deputy for the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office. 

            On January 1, 2002, Chad was hired as a full-time Officer in Guttenberg.  He attended the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in Waterloo for eight weeks, and graduated in May of 2003.  Chad worked mostly night shifts in Guttenberg.

            On September 13, 2004, Chad was hired by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office, and he is assigned as a Patrol Deputy.  On April 12, 2006, Chad was awarded a Commissioner's Special Award for Traffic Safety.  It was awarded for his expertise in traffic laws and his drive to enforce alcohol related offenses.  Chad received a plaque at a Ceremony in Cedar Rapids.

            In November 2006, Chad completed a Technical Accident Investigation School.  The training is for more advanced investigation into detecting speeds of vehicles prior to collisions and for more serious and fatal accidents that occur in the County. 

            Chad is currently working the night shift as a Patrol Deputy, and he specializes in Accident Investigation.
