Clayton County K9 Fundraiser

The Clayton County Sherif'fs Office K9 program started in 1999.  Sinec 1999 the K9 Unit has been a vital part of drug enforcement.  It is also an important tool in locating lost and missing persons.  Over these same years the K9 has aided in the arrest in countless individuals for drug related offenses.  Ithas also been a part of the ability to seize and forfeit cash and vehicles from individuals dealing illegal drugs.  The K9 and its handler have also conducted countless presentations for all kinds of groups.  Our current K9 "Bear" is 9 years old.  The typical working life a patrol K9 is approximately 10-12 years depending on its health.  The Sheriff's Office has decided at this time to raise the funds necessary to purchase a new K9.  The current plan is to purchase a K9 in late fall of 2013 and have it ready for the road in the spring of 2014.  The cost to purchase anew K9 and training is approximately $11,000.  With a co-sponsorship from the McGregor Achievement Club, The Sheriff's Office will hold a raffle for prizes.  Along with donations we hope to reach and exceed our goal.  Please join us on August 18th for a free will donation pork meal, open house, and raffle drawing.  *Need not be present to win.
